Enduro Racer

Release Date: August 1987
Developer: Sega
Publisher: Sega
Genre: Racing
Hop on your bike and race to the finish on five separate tracks in Enduro Racer on Sega Master System! In Enduro Racer, you race forward hitting jumps, avoiding obstacles, and passing fellow racers on each course.
It really is a very simple game. You hold Button 2 to accelerate and press Button 1 to brake. I braked exactly zero times in my play of the game. You move left or right with the d-pad and can pop a wheelie by pressing down. You need to pop a wheelie correctly on the jumps on order to not lose speed. Basically, roll your finger down as you start to hit a jump and release right as you get some air.
You’re racing against the clock and need to finish before the timer counts down. This is easy to do. Between races, you can buy upgrades for your bike that last for the race or until you blow up, whichever comes first. Be careful not to run into other racers, large obstacles, or the water, as they will destroy your bike and cost you precious time.
Graphics: 2.0
The graphics are colorful and well detailed.
Sound: 1.5
Music and sound effects are just below average.
Gameplay: 1.5
Hold the accelerator down and pop a wheelie on the jumps while avoiding obstacles.
Difficulty: 0.5
This was far too easy, I don’t think anyone would get long term enjoyment here.
Fun Factor: 1.0
There’s a small level of fun to get from this, but it doesn’t equate to multiple playthroughs.
Overall Grade: 1.3
Enduro Racer earns a D+. It’s a bare bones racer that accomplishes very little.
